Miles in May

Over the course of the month of May, the Seashells Dolgellau team cover a combined X miles to raise funds for Latch!

For the final month of spring, the team at Seashells LTD Dolgellau decided to take on a challenge, to not only to give them an excuse to get out and enjoy the sunshine after a long grey winter, but to help support a local Welsh charity and help support families across the country.

'Our care team wanted to do an annual fundraiser but for a smaller organisation, in Wales.' Latch fit the bill. 'From reading up on what [Latch] does, it seemed the perfect choice for us.'

With that, the team got to work in planning what their fundraising would entail, and settled on walking a combined 2000 miles over the month of May.

That's the equivalent of walking from Rhoose Point, one of Wales' most southerly points, to the Point of Ayr Lighthouse on the northern coast of the mainland... 12 times!

As if the challenge wasn't hard enough already, the team would also be contending with the unpredictable Welsh spring weather, which proved as reliable as ever, raining on more than half of the days of the challenge.

'Biggest challenge was the weather - it being a walking challenge. But, our team were incredible. going out in all weathers'.

The team faced the rain, cold, and even occasional sunshine to ensure that they reached their goal, fitting in their daily miles before or after work.

But they didn't have to face the weather or miles alone. The team often headed out in groups to keep each other company and support one another, their conversations and laughter helping to keep them ticking off the miles.

The team wasn't alone in their challenge, with the town coming together to back the team; 'The support from all of our family, friends and our local Dolgellau community has been incredible.'

And the results of the teams efforts are clear to see, raising more than £4,300! 'We were sceptical at first about how much we thought we could raise but the total amount has blown us away. We are so appreciative of everyone's donations.'

A huge well done to the team for their incredible efforts, and everyone who supported them along the way!
