Latch has joined other members of the Wales Cancer Alliance, Children and Young People’s Subgroup, calling for the new Welsh Government to prioritise the needs of children and young people with cancer.

Having cancer at a young age is different and the impact is unique, and long lasting. And we hear the challenges that children, young people and families experience loud and clear every day.

A new Welsh Government means a new opportunity to prioritise the needs of children and young people with cancer, and to build a better future of care and support here in Wales.

In their manifesto, we were pleased to see Plaid Cymru commit to a new Cancer Plan for Wales, as well as a travel fund for people travelling to specialist treatment, like children and young people. We are working together with other charities to ensure that these manifesto commitments are now implemented.

Together with CCLG: The Children & Young People’s Cancer Association, Young Lives vs Cancer, Teenage Cancer Trust, MOVE Against Cancer Charity, and The Joshua Tree, we are asking the First Minister and Cabinet Minister for Health to re-affirm their commitment to children and young people with cancer and to work with us, and those we support, to build a better system of care and support.
