Here to volunteer

Make a real difference for children with cancer and their families across Wales

Join our team of supporters and ambassadors and help spread the word about our work.

Volunteers and ambassadors are at the heart of Latch. By giving your time, energy, or voice, you help us raise awareness, support fundraising efforts, and make a real difference for children with cancer and their families across Wales.

How you can help

There are many ways to get involved, from hands-on support to spreading the word in your community:

  • Dropping off or collecting tins and buckets
  • Manning stalls at events
  • Helping in the Latch office
  • Attending and supporting Latch events, such as our Summer Fun Day or Christmas Party

I did my first half marathon for Latch when Max was having treatment. I remember feeling emotional when I finished, that I’d accomplished it for Max. I felt proud and thought: ‘I just want to keep doing this.’

“The fundraising I do for Latch helps me to feel connected to my son Paul who had acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. With my sister Mary, I set up the West Wales Latch branch in 1995. We’ve had raffles, bottle sales and coffee mornings. We have also done sea dips, fun runs, and held concerts and dinner dances. All together, we have raised close to £500,000.”

Could you help raise awareness?

Our passionate volunteer ambassadors play a vital role in shining a spotlight on Latch. You might:

  • Speak to your community about how we support families
  • Collect and return donation boxes from local businesses
  • Organise community fundraising events

Volunteering with Latch is about making a difference, building community, and helping families when they need it most.

“I feel very privileged to be able to be a Latch Ambassador. I’ve done everything from speaking about the charity in schools to collecting cheques. I also spoke in the Senedd about Latch when it was their 40th anniversary, which I was delighted to do. I want to tell people how important Latch is.”
