Latch is proud to announce that beloved broadcaster and drummer Owain Wyn Evans has officially joined us as our newest Honorary Patron!
Owain Wyn Evans is a prominent and award-winning television and radio presenter, currently waking up the nation with his Early Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2.
Owain is well known for his record-breaking 24-hour Drumathon for Children in Need which raised over £3.8m. Owain is also a proud member and supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and is a Patron for the LGBTQ Foundation.
Owain was welcomed to Latch at a special celebration event hosted and sponsored by Cardiff and Vale College, where he met families, volunteers and supporters of the charity and he engaged the learners of the College with an inspirational Q&A session.
Owain has a personal connection to Latch and during the past year, he has been proactively supporting the charity in several ways, including volunteering his time to host the Mastering Diversity in aid of Gala Ball in February this year that raised over £9,000 for the charity.
Commenting on his appointment, Owain said:
“I'm so thrilled to be supporting Latch as a Patron, they are a charity that are very close to my heart.
My husband Arran's family were supported by Latch when he was a child, as was a very good friend of mine and her family more recently.
Their work is nothing short of amazing during difficult times. I'm really looking forward to working with the team and learning more about the life-changing work of Latch to support children and families across Wales.”
On announcing Owain’s appointment, Chair of Trustees at Latch, Susan Gwyer-Roberts DL said:
“On behalf of the Board, I am delighted to welcome Owain as our new Honorary Patron.
We look forward to working with Owain in his new role to raise further awareness of childhood cancer and Latch’s vital bespoke support services in Wales.”
