Chase the Sunrise with Latch

Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Sunrise Hike

This September, Latch Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity is inviting supporters to take on an unforgettable adventure, a Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) Sunrise Hike, climbing Wales’ highest mountain in support of children affected by cancer.

Taking place overnight on Friday 18th into Saturday 19th September, this unique challenge offers participants the chance to experience Snowdon under the stars and witness sunrise from its summit, all while raising vital funds to ensure Latch remains here for families affected by childhood cancer in Wales.

Participants will arrive on the evening of Friday 18th September, gathering together at a bunkhouse at the foot of Yr Wyddfa, (Snowdon). After bedding down early, walkers will set off in the early hours of the morning, reaching the summit in time to watch the sun rise over the mountains of Eryri, a powerful, reflective moment during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Frequently asked questions

The route being used will be the Llanberis Path, which is a roughly 9 mile round trip.

A full kit list is available via the link below.

Information on the Friday night accommodation and directions for those driving can be found here. Please note, while there is a relatively large car park, we would recommend car sharing where possible

The closest train station is Bangor if participants wish to take public transport. There is a local bus route (S2) that gets you to within about 1/3 mile walk from the bunkhouse, or alternatively there are quite a few taxis waiting outside the station for private hire.

We advise arriving at the accommodation by 6pm, giving time for a briefing, some food and an early night.

Participants will need to take everything with them from the accommodation when they depart early in the morning for the hike, as check-out time is 11am on the Saturday morning, and they may not be back before then.
