Two Inspiring Events Launched with EverTrek
This September, we are inviting supporters across Wales to take part in two inspiring new events, delivered in partnership with adventure trekking specialist Ever Trek. Taking place during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, these challenges offer a powerful way to raise vital funds and stand alongside children and families affected by cancer.
Latch Gower Coastal Path Walk – Sunday 13 September
On Sunday 13 September, supporters are invited to take part in the Latch Gower Coastal Path Walk, a scenic yet powerful fundraising event set against the backdrop of one of Wales’ most breathtaking coastlines. Participants can choose from three different routes, making the event accessible to a wide range of abilities.
For those seeking a significant test of endurance, the 24-mile challenge offers a full coastal route, while a 12-mile option provides a shorter but equally rewarding experience. Both distances encourage participants to aim for a £250 fundraising target.
The day will conclude with a one-hour Childhood Cancer Awareness Walk, bringing together Latch families, staff, volunteers and supporters to raise awareness and stand in solidarity with children facing cancer.
Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) Sunrise Hike – 18–19 September
Chase the sunset with an unforgettable challenge: the Latch Snowdon Sunrise Hike, taking place overnight from Friday 18 into Saturday 19 September. Delivered in partnership with Ever Trek, the experience combines expert guidance with a meaningful physical challenge.
Participants will gather at a bunkhouse at the foot of Snowdon before setting out in the early hours, climbing under the stars to reach the summit in time to witness sunrise over the mountains of Eryri. The event offers a reflective and powerful moment during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, while also raising crucial funds, with participants asked to aim for a £250 target.
With places for the Snowdon hike limited due to accommodation and safety considerations, early registration is encouraged.
Supporting Children and Families Across Wales
Funds raised through both the Gower Coastal Path Walk and the Snowdon Sunrise Hike will ensure that Latch can continue, helping families stay together and receive the care they need when it matters most.
Latch provides bespoke emotional, practical and financial support to families across Wales whose children have been diagnosed with cancer. Based at the Children’s Hospital for Wales in Cardiff, the charity offers free family accommodation near the hospital, financial grants to ease the burden of treatment-related costs, and dedicated hospital and community based social workers who support families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
In addition, Latch delivers activities for patients and siblings, annual family holidays and specialist bereavement support for families coping with loss.
Whether walking along the Gower coastline or climbing Wales’ highest peak, every step taken this September will help Latch continue to be here for children with cancer and their families across Wales.
